Erica Liu is a Taiwanese-American filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Erica is currently incubating her first feature, “THE MUSHROOMERS.” It was a recipient of the Tribeca Sloan Filmmaker Fund, the SFFILM Sloan Science in Film Fellowship and a finalist for the NYU Sloan Feature Film Award.

In 2015, Erica was one of ten directors selected to participate in the AFI Conservatory Directing Workshop for Women. Her films have screened at AFI Fest, Clermont-Ferrand and Palm Springs Int’l Shortfest, among other festivals. “Springtime,” received the Crystal Heart Award at Heartland Film Festival and aired on public television nationwide via KQED and affiliate stations. “The Disappointment Tour” received a Will & Jada Smith Family Foundation grant.

Erica earned her MFA from NYU Tisch Asia and previously spent five years working and shooting throughout Asia. As a cinematographer, she has lensed numerous documentaries and short films in Asia. Before finding filmmaking, Erica has manned a food truck in Thailand, taken the LSATs, worked in a photography studio, sold calendars at gas stations and designed wedding stationery—all of which she’s chalked up as grist for the storytelling mill.
